As the heritage centre opened it doors to vxscc members, i took the chance to capture some of the finest vauxhalls on camera

VX Lightening - Vauxhall Concept.

Astra 888 Coupe.

Astra mk2 GTE, Astra mk2 4S rally car & Chevette HSR rally car.

Firenza - Driven by Gerry Marshall.

Calibra SE9, 2.5 V6.

XVR - Vauxhall supercar built in 1966, although the Opel GT looked very similar, also where Vauxhall got the name VXR from for their sports range.

Silver Aero - Based on the mk1 cavalier & styled by Wayne Cherry, this supercar had a firm 500 orders placed for production however it remains the only one, it has a 2.4 turbo charged engine producing 150bhp & easily capable of 120mph+

Lotus Carlton - The Daddy of all saloons, built by Vauxhall with the aid of Lotus, this car was based on the successful 3.0 GSi, however the Lotus Calton produced 380bhp from its twin turbochargers & capable of speeds of 170mph+, this car when new cost £48,000!!!.

Yep vauxhall heritage centre actually owns them, must be one of the most expensive vauxhall collections ever

They also had an Astra VXR & Monaro VXR there aswell

No nova's

Not even a MK1 astra GTE which has classic status, was also expecting to see a manta 400 or monza

was also surprised at no vectra ST200's or cavalier turbo's as there is only 54 registered on dvla's list.

Ian & Tim you need to sweet talk VBOA directors into letting corsa-sport becoming a reconised club, then the club can display at VBOA at Billing Aquadrome & get invites to heritage centre etc.. though gaining VBOA status is very difficult

I'm sure whatever their requirement is we can meet it. I believe not only is it difficult to get but also difficult to keep as a few clubs have found out, nothing a bit of clarity in the organisation wouldn't sort.

Yeah indeed I would like to be involved, it is a fairly benchmark achievement. Got to be sure we can carry ourselves well though before going for something like that.
