How much will the average garage charge to fix an engine where the cylinder head gasket has gone, should not be any further damage to the engine cos it was not drove after that went.

most garages 450 ish
shop around and you should get it done for about 300

100ish to do yourself

just looking on autovaux and the actual gasket only costs £27.50

then you need bolts, should replace the cambelt, might aswell do oil and filter, and the head could possibly need a skim aswell.

with everything there's a cheap way and a proper way to do everything.

if the engine aint damaged then , only the head gasket needs replacing, £110 - £120

if you take a risk on the head still being flat and re-use the cambelt, then it could probably be done for £40-50 with just bolts and gasket.
you not know any mechanics that'd do it for a slab of beer?

thought you had just bought that from a garage? didnt you get a warranty?

you are looking at £15 for headbolts, £30 for gasket set, £75 for a belt kit, 5 hours labour.

so £120 for parts and £150 labour.

or bring it round mine and diy
