Wiring up a ceiling rose in the house and i need something confirmed...

OK

Looking at that diagram you got all three red cores in the loop terminal, with one red going to switch (which is it called switched live)

But it has a black cable for (switch return) which then in turn goes into the live terminal block.

Surely this is incorrect as its a live and not a neutral. And im sure ive seen switched live/switch return as red elsewhere.

So whats correct?

RED - Switched live / Black - Switch Return

or

RED - Switched live / RED - Switch Return

cheers

The red that is going to the switch returns as black, but this black should have red tape around it to mark it as the switched live.

that switchs live goes into the L side of the rose and the other blacks go into the N side,

All the reds should be in the centre as they are in the Ring (Loop)

so the diagram is correct.

Found a different diagram.

The diagram above is rubbish..... Most things on there are labeled incorrectly and the switch return should be black with red sleeving to identify that its a switch return, rather than leaving it black like the one above.

Looks like a good diy site http://www.userview.net/

I done electronics A-Level and decided i didnt want to be doing electronics so decided to go into electrical. Im an apprentice with bosch, but dont do no house wiring. But i know the basics from my first year in college.

Would prefer to get out and do house wiring when i finish my apprenticeship because thats where the £££ is at.

Why are you knocking your electronics degree on the head and going into electrical insted?

My m8 started an electronics degree and he failed his first year, he resat the whole year again and failed it again. So it must be a hard degree bearing in mind he had a B in his a levels, the same as me.... so by going down the apprenticeship route im quite happy.

Im just wanting to keep my options open plus im also interested in the electrical side of things and want to learn it.
Im quite happy in the electronics side as it's quite interesting but want to try other avenues.
Like you said there is big money to be made in house wiring etc and im wouldnt mind sorting my own buisness at some point in the future.
