anyone heard about this, Braintree in Essex is gonna be the first area to enforce this new law

mainly affects delivery drivers etc

but also if you stop outside shop while someone goes in

I'm sure sometime last winter it was in the paper that some guy got fined (possibly pionts too) for leaving his car running to defrost his windows before he left for work one morning cos it was on a public road outside his house!

There is a time limit, I think it's something like 1 minute or maybe 2, but the bus drivers would have to turn thier engines off if they were aiting for a while - seeing as bus engines are the most polluting......

been like that in darlington for ages, one or two people i know got fined for it about 2 years ago

However, where i live i could not leave me car idle as someone would just jump in and drive off.

was thinking about that lastnight, after reading that car jacking

i got in car, started it, then realised i'd forgot something, so leave car sat outside running with door wide open while i go back in house for about 5mins

i remember Top Gear covering a story on this, and it was found that if this special built Audi was to sit in rush hour traffic with its engine running right in the heart of london, the gases being exhumed from the exhaust were actually cleaner than what was being sucked in through the filter

I do this but I've got quite a big drive that isn't visible from the road so dont really worry about it cos noone can see my car anyway

Regulation 107 of the construction and use regulations makes it an offence to leave a motor vehicle on a road whilst not attended by a person licenced to drive it whilst the engine is running or the handbrake is not set

vibrio doens't know what he is on about, read this in paper just other day, and mum works in that line of stuff

you can get done for sitting in car with it running, unless ur in a traffic jam
