Never done one before and thought it would be easy by pulling out the wires from the back of the old headunit and putting it into the new one.

BUT NO!

I pulled out the old headunit, there was a cable plugged in which i take it is the antena for the radio, and also pulled out the wiring loom from the back of the old headunit.

The new headunit i have has a different wiring loom connections, so i unplugged the old wiring loom (single block) and plugged in the new wiring loom (double block) and then plugged the loom into the back of the new headunit, i also plugged in the antena into the back of the new headunit.

But i have a cable which is ORANGE and splits into red/yellow which is sepperate from the loom but connects into the loom plug

And i also have a BROWN cable which is sepperate from the loom but then plugs into the loom connection

These were plugged into the back of the old headunit....

On the new headunit there is rear L/R connections that have not been plugged in (RED/WHITE) there are no wires for this but i have rear speakers?

Anyway i switched the headunit on with the present antena and loom plugged in and it sounded like the motor inside the headunit was turning but the display didnt come on.

What the hell am i doing wrong? i dont have any instructions with the headunit so i aint got a clue?

Anyone got any good tutorials with fitting a kenwood W4031 MP3 CD PLAYER into a corsa...

Cheers

Right now on the wiring there should be

Red - Red

&

Yellow - Yellow

Change these around so its

Red - Yellow

Yellow - Red

Did you take out the old "cage" and fit your new one?

J-Me so what your saying is on the loom i need to swap the unplugg the connection between yellow-yellow and red-red (on the loom) ?

Why do i need to swap them? are all vauxhalls like this?

I removed the old cage but i got a new cage for the headunit.

How do you fit the headunit so its secure (with a screw into the back plate)

Or is it ok to push it in and leave it like that (thats how the old headunit was installed, all i had to do was tug on it as it slid out!

And i havent fitted the new cage yet, I havent got any screws for it so i take it that you just slide the cage in and make sure its secure then slide the headunit into the cage.

But like i said how are you suppose to secure the headunit with a screw? do you go from behind the dash and screw it in or summing? does look like there is any room behind there!?!?

you aint meant to secure the headunit with as screw. Sometimes they supply a stud which screws into the back of the stereo and slides into the bracket on the car where the old cage screwed into.

Didnt have any studs with mine.

It says to install the cage slide it in and bend the flaps out so that the cage doesnt move.

No it wont, but the first time you plug it in all kenwoods will start to spin up. To get it to turn on you need to press the 'Source' button
