mate has one of these and its fairly quick for what it is, thing is we dont know what the BHP is of it...

he has raced a 306 TD(1.9) and beat it
also raced a citroen AX 1.9TD with dump valve and somwething else and he sorta kept with that until really at the top end.

i find 1.4 16v strange, me m8 used to own one at same time and his was blattently quicker basically performed like x16xe but was'nt

funny thing is he ragged shit out of it i looked after mine lol

i know what you mean mate - this one is like shit of a shovel and really does shift- ive seen him chase all sorts - he always get beat but not by much.

he "claims" to have raced a VTR and "only just got beat by it" - his words not mine

this is why i asked the original question as i am on the look out for a 1.6 sport - but i deffo dont want him hanging on my ass like a monkey boy!

Seems like your mate is having fun well a 1.6 have at least 106bhp for a X16XE or 109bhp for C16XE engine, has your mate done any mods or mods carried out on the car before he bought it??

nah its standard - it has an induction kit BUT thats just stuck on and not boxed or owt so not really doing that much,

on thursday he stripped the back seats out but all this happend before he done that


when he first bought the car it fucked up and he had it go back the the garage - they redone the engine - I HOPE THEY PUTTHE RIGHT ONE BACK iN!

They may have accidently popped the top end of a X16XE on it

x16xe and x14xe's have the same head
the girlfriend has had 3 1.4 16v's the first was quick pulled right round to the red line the second had a non gen exhaust inc a non gen cat and felt resitricted now she has a superchiped 1.4 but its on 17's so not much differance!

ive had two x14xe's 1st one wud sit with a VTR and the 2nd engine wud pass them....

i think its due to some engines being built late on friday after noon when peeps wanna go home lol

ive raced a gsi in my x14xe kept up till middle of 3rd then he just crept away
