An airbus a320 just had an emergency landing in Los Angeles airoprt after the nosewheels came out at a 90 degree angle.
Had to fly about for 4 hours to burn off all the fuel.
Landed safely in the end though.
I'm sure Cyberspunkey will have some more in depth info.

Think your right, but thats just because of proberbility. As far as I know Airbusses fly shit loads more than anything else... Oh, and back in the early days they had a design fault which made a couple of them crash (I think). I also think that one of them set on fire and disintegrated when they put TV's in the backs of the seats...

as a general rule, Airbus are equally reliable as any other large aircraft manufacturer like Boeing, Lockheed (ex), Bombardier, etc etc. there have been a few Airbus' making headlines recently, but its the smaller incidents that even things out that dont make average joe news headlines.

gotta give a round of aplause to the pilot though, extremely tricky landing there, but they are trained for it

in all honesty though, this is total mdeia hype in the day when its so freely available. this is happened many times before...

Bahh, should be able to land a plane with no wheels FFS.

Look at all the WW2 fighters and bomber pilots that managed to belly land because of damaged hydrolics, fanny jet fighters.

what about the gliders that had no landing gear?

wings being ripped off by trees and bushes and stuff. Everyone inside being rattled around like smarties. People falling out and drowning or being crushed to death
