Why do you have to change the oil so often?

Does it pick up dirt/dust or something?

first time once it gets warm to get rid of swarf or whatever you call it.

my engine blew up, melted 3 pistons, so i kept changing the ol to try to get rid of any bits of shit left in when re-building

Also i wouldnt give it much stick till around the 1k-1.5k mark just keep varying the revs and just increasing the load gradually (not redlining it etc) to let the piston rings etc expand.
