A plane took off this evening from Liverpool John Lennon Airport bound for Louisiana with around 110 local people on board determined to help the people of New Orleans.

Said Barry Quinn, 37 of Toxteth "We've seen the appalling images on TV and we are going over there to show the people of New Orleans how to loot a shop properly".
