By flying VFR you are using Visual Flight Rules which means its up to you to get there and you just advise ATC what you want to do.
If you select IFR you will be flying Instrument Flight Rules which means you are using instruments to navigate, and ATC will asist you in getting there. They will also assist you on the approach pattern to follow.

Then comes the interesting bit of learning ILS haha
Have a look here for an example. This will help loads

So IFR is the easier one ? That means if VFR is the default one (i think it is) no wonder i can't land a 737

Someone buy B17 Flying Fortress, you get to fly, navigate and shoot, and bomb French cities.

As boring as flying a 737 from Gatwick to Ibiza with no problems encounted, at least there is a risk that a Me262 might come at you in Flying Fortress
