Flights from Expedia. I found that Continental were cheapest.
Accomodation, between $20 andd $35 per night if you stay in a hostel. There are loads in the Chelsea area, though I stayed in the HI (Hosteling International) place which was about 5 mins uptown on the subway at 42nd I think...

The subway is definitely the way to travel in manhattan. However you have to try a yellow cab at least once! We flew BA but only because we knew the right people to get cheap flights!

No didnt go on the bus, one of the best things i saw when i was walking through times square was a "bum" with a statue of liberty type crown cut out of cardboard on his head and he was holding up a sign saying "Got stress, take it out on me! $2"
