Bought my new car cheap because it was part ex to clear, has no warrenty as it was bought as seen. I had to do an oil change on it because it was 2700 miles overdue. Now it has clean fresh oil in it has started to burn oil

Looks like the piston rings have gone as when the engine is rrunning, at any temp, and you give it a rev oily smoke pours out the exhaust.

Now I will have to indulge in my favorite pass time, stipping engines down and re-building them

I only done 100 miles in it

Awww, I know, I though it was the valve stem seals at first, but it smokes when the engine is hot too. I also think the engine is running too hot as well. The 1.2 ran at dead on 90 degrees, this one runs at about 93-94 degrees and in traffic it gets hot very quickly... Was perfect when we looked at it...

But the oil that was in it was black as anything... I think if they did anything they must have put in that anti smoke stuff for a quick sale... Oh well, you live and learn. At least I can fix it myself

Becuase it was a part ex to clear... My Dad seemed to think it was a good idea so I went along.

They replaced a sensor on the engine though which was about £100 apparently. I think it was the coolent temp sensor because the ECU light came on when the engine was cold, but I didn't think they were that expensive brand new...

I don't think that heavier oil will work, as it's going to be the same weight when hot, and it;s burning quite a lot... Had to top it up from the bottom of the dipstick to the top after 100 miles...

Yea, and I know that when I tell my parents that its goosed my mum will make some smart assed comment like 'are you sure it's not the way you drive it'. My reply will be 'look woman, who has 9 points on her driving licence and hasn't been in the car with me since I took my driving test?'.
