I'm not sure abotu this one and will need to go for a test drive. my main worry is relability. considering other cars to the octavia VRs. 150hp cdti has a bit of grunt and good mpg (good considering I'm going to be a student) and I can get an 05 with around 10000 on the clock for a little over 10k.

I've driven loads of these at work, i dont see how they are wank at all. Got loads of torque and pulls well in all gears, not particularly entertaining to drive but a good cruiser and i think they look pretty smart too.
Make sure you get the 150 though as the 120 aint half as good.

I've driven the petrol version, very comfortable, interior looks like a plane cockpit in the dark (ie with headlights on), drinks petrol although doesn't apply to you in this case as you're interested in the oil burner.
Gets my vote!

We've never seen any, but if your gettin an 05 plate then it'll be under warranty. Actually come to think of it, rear shockers are a weak spot, we've changed them on 03 platers and they aint covered under warranty. I cant think of any other problems you will have.
Where is that price from too, 10 grand is cheap for a 05?

most places seem to be that.
can get a 03 VRs estate 30k miles for just under 10k from a main dealer too. also a 52-03 leaon cupra for around the same. really not sure what I want. head says a TDi estate but heart wants the leon cupra.

Before buying the tdi find out what mpg it does in real life. WIth new cars anyway, the amount extra you pay to buy the diesel version takes a lot of miles to save that money in fuel costs.

my mum has a 150ps vectra energy i think it is. i love the engine and 6sp box. its still got the usual diesel delay when u put ur foot down but worst thing is since it does pull well when it comes to slowing down it goes all light and unstable but with an sri you should be fine as my dads one was decent enough on the brakes and handling. Was the 150ps sri with 19s and xenons. Very nice car and only problem my mum has had is she took a minute to get used to it and stalled it abit to start with

it's one of many cars I am thinking about. I'm struggling to find sense with your comment. I need a largish car for myself, wife, lewis and associated gubbins plus dog. it needs to be around 10k low miles fairly new from a main dealer.
Mondeo TDi estate
Octavia vRS estate
leon cupra (pushes the size thing slightly too much I think)
Vectra CDTi SRi 150 estate
also things like the mazda 6, honda CRV, vovlo V70 are just too old too many miles. I'll welcome any suggestions you have on the matter

vibs if you get anything with that 1.8T engine you just know that your gonna revo it. Guess you need to make your mind up if you want performance or economy, i say life is too short and say fuck it and get the leon. would you get R version though?

revo is not likely Seth. custum code seem to be not bad. low boost and decent power spread compared to jabba, revo, etc. it's a case of cost Seth I can afford turbopetrol but using my head with the way petrol prices are going at the moment. trying to think to the future. the cupraR is too dear

my dads got the Mondeo TDCI estate, an you can pick them up for a decent price because they depreciate like crazy from new. The engines pretty good, especially when its mated to the 6 speed box. He returns about 45 to the gallon.
