After being dumped by BMW, Williams F1 looks like it is about to join with Cosworth.

Jenson Button has to go there now on paper.

Meaning we could have a proper british F1 team, and a fooking good one too.

Guess they considered a partnership wasnt working and they'd be served better if they went alone. The williams cosworth deal is a partnership as well robbo!

Williams do this every 3 years.

Get in a mess, bounce back and win the championship.

BMW are doing shit, dont want the bad image so have dumped williams to make it look like them.

They also want more control hence buying into their own team.

Will be called Lexus Williams most likely.

Does every team have to use v8s next season or are williams just choosing to do so?

button deffo going to williams?! He was a daft plank for signing up to that, although i suppose he made the bed, has to lie in it.

But yea, either teams have to use a 2.4lt V8 or a rev limited 3lt V10 - what the out come will be whos knows. People are saying the V10s will be more realiable, but the V8s smaller and less weight etc etc

Although the 90% decrease in downforce is completly retarded - i can see it costing teams a shell loads of cash to get any of the grip back and at worse possibly a dangerous thing for the FIA to do

looks like next year could be interesting

Cosworth V8 run to 20k rpm

edit - what does cosworth do now, apart from engines for F1?

Sign up to what, when he signed they looked awsome, its BMW since then.

90% is not quite what it sounds. They are trying to progress to less downforce and plan to use slicks again so the racing is better.

Cosworth is an engineering company and still race in many forms.

"90% is not quite what it sounds. They are trying to progress to less downforce and plan to use slicks again so the racing is better."

It would be good if this happened, a reduce in downforce and a return to slicks would create better racing. From what i understand, the current amount of downforce causes so much turbulance at the back of the car, it is next to impossible to get close to overtake.

I think Williams will be in the doldrums for another couple of seasons at least.

Its two factors.

Slicks and downforce will mean ridiculous speeds and very dangerous.

The current complicated downforce packages mean the cars only work in "clean air" so they just cant overtake.
