there a tuned 1.3 that is about on par with the 1.6 8v and thats quite expensive on the insurance too so its about right. Plus they handl like go karts

No frills so be warned if you do alot of miles. Zero comfort and in winter they are noisey and cold.

the 1.3 rallye engine is tuned and also the car is lightweight etc, totally different car and engine. as said other alternative is the 106 xsi, becareful though as these some in 1.4 and 1.6 so its the 1.6 you want to be getting, as said though they arn't shy on the insurance.

what group insurance are they, i can get insured on a golf 8v mk2 gti, so hopefully not more than that! the s2 is only 3bhp more than the s1, but much quicker as have 1.6 lump, more torque.

prob cheaper to get 16v engine and put it in rallye tho. tbh, theres hardly any difference between the s2 rallye and gti
