ok who wants the real reason. Zeta framed chassis' made and designed by GM was dropped my GM N America about a month ago, a chassis that was meant to be implemented into the VE 2006 Commodore. Holden are still going ahead with the Zeta platform, and will be SOLELY Australian. Production of the current VZ Commodore/Monaro/Ute will be stopped around the end of the year, ready for Zeta to be implemented into the factories. There will be no more 5.7 V8 LS1, instead the only V8 will be the 6.0 LS2, which is also found in the Corvette ZR6 in 7.0 form. Commodore will also be powered by a 190kW V6 N/A engine, and there are possibilities of a Turbocharged version, thanks to Saab, who also share the Australian built Alloytec V6.
Holden can no longer export Monaro's to the UK, since it is now focusing on the future domestic market.

Shame they can't sort something - its only very small number of cars and they only need different badges, not like an entirely different build.
Don't suppose Vauxhall are too bothered, just means residuals for existing cars will be strong.

yeah they will hold price well on the forecourts. good investment if you managed to get hold of one.
I suspect theres something more to it though, since parts also have to be sourced from the states or australia right? if something goes wrong with the engine, there could be a huge wait for replacement parts.
I am interested to know whether Vauxhall/Opel had any input into Zeta, perhaps a future Senator/Carlton based on the Commodore?
