re-installed windows recently and have noticed my dvd drive is G: and hard drive is H: and so on

is there anyway of renaming these back to hard-drive c and dvd drive d? cheers

Yes, right click my computer, "manage" Disk management, right click drive, "Change drive letter and paths"
BUT you won't be able to change your hard drive. this is why people suggest reinstalling without all your devices plugged in.
