My current system has done me well over the last 2 years or so... which is...
CPU Type AMD Athlon XP, 2079 MHz (12.5 x 166) 2800+
Motherboard Name Asus A7N8X v2.0 Deluxe (5 PCI, 1 AGP Pro, 3 DDR DIMM, Dual LAN, IEEE-1394)
Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400
System Memory 512 MB (DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type Award (10/06/03)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 (256 MB)
Disk Drive Maxtor 6Y160P0 (160 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/133)
Optical Drive SONY DVD RW DW-U14A (DVD+RW:4x/4x, DVD-RW:4x/2x, DVD-ROM:8x, CD:24x/16x/32x DVD+RW/DVD-RW)
My system is too sluggish for the likes of counterstrike:source games that i play and also i would say that some programs i try running are sluggish etc.
I have 2 options in mind....
1. Upgrade PC (i will only do this if my pc will be able to keep up with the modern fps games and programs for the next 1.5 - 2 years. Obviously not with the highest settings but at a good res with medium quality)
- Overclock my XP2800+ to somthing reasonable? Do not know how to do this..... Or even buy a XP3200+ ?
- Badly need to change my graphics card, thinking about getting 6800GT or somthing in the region of £125-175
- Upgrade my ram to 1.5 Gig - 2 Gig
2. I keep hearing more and more about how good amd 64 is etc etc... do i stuggle with my system for another year or 2 and the money that i would have spent upgrading my pc save it and spend even more on a brand new build 64bit system.
What are your opinions?!?!
Cheers guys
