Can you only catch it from some one elses saliva, my mate said you can get it from touching some one who has it

Also once you have the virus how long until it takes affect, im going on holiday in six days and shitting getting the mumps cause my mate just told me that he has them after we have been at work

Yes. Mumps is spread by contact with the saliva of someone who has the disease. It is contagious until all the swelling is gone. Mumps occurs year-round, but is more common in the winter and spring.

I found this, does this mean you can only catch it from kissing some one ?

And does this mean that you will be fine until 14 days after you have?

WHAT CAUSES MUMPS?
It is caused by a virus. Symptoms usually appear 14 to 21 days after exposure to the virus.

If he's spoken to your face you might have breathed in moisture from his breath, having said that, a lad in uni had it, i spoke to him quite a bit and didn't get it.

well i go in 6 days so if ive got it that means i will get 8 good days of holiday and 6 crap days if it takes 14 days to start feeling ill Etc

We had this at work about a week before i was due to go away !!

Over 3 people got it aswell, all my mates who i work with i wish shit scared and worried and started getting itchy throat, swollen neck and itchy balls (paranoid)

mine came on in just a couple of days of feeling tired, then one day i woke up an one of my bollocks was huge and i couldn't walk cos it felt like i was constantly being kicked in the nads.

yes mine went extremely painful as well. I got it cos i went round to my mates house quite abit who had it. Thought i wouldn't catch it but i did.
