I have a 1.2 16v W reg Corsa B SXi, i was driving around like you do, not really giving it much maybe pushing 4.5k revs, then suddenly i try to go past 3.5k and it wont and the ecu light comes on.

Anyone know how to fix this, reseting the ECU ???

Cars only done 36k ... ?

Rob

i know that the corsa ecu will retard the engine, whether that means keeping it below certain revs i dont know - but it limits the engine in someway

your car is in safe mode vauxhall need to do a diagnostic check on it £30 upwards did you spray the carb cleaner before or after the air flow meter if before you might have damaged that as they dont like the stuff.new afm are quite pricey better to get a 2nd hand one mate

Safe mode also wont stick a temporary rev limiter on your motor, i used to have a GSI that would go into safe mode quite a bit and i could still rev it to 7500rpm, safe mode is just when the ecu runs a set programe cos if one of your sensors is down the ecu stops recieving the information it needs so switches to a set programe to get ya home, you will notice a power loss too

I removed the airbox and sprayed it up there, Sam aka dna23 has a w reg sxi and has done exactly the same as me, is there any point in taking it to vauxhall cause the ecu light only comes on for a few seconds and goes off so it wouldnt be logged would it ?

should be logged what they tend to do anyway is plug it in with the car running and see what faults come up that way

not sure of a site but the most common ones are

idle control valve
egr valve
crankshaft sensor
