Just put it on and we need just under 300 runs without losing a wicket
Our best player (imo) isn't even English by birth either. Maybe we should import more often

England can bowl.

But we can't catch or bat, bar Pietersen. They made such a big deal out of us now having bowlers that can take 20 wickets. That meas FA if we can't match what the Aussies manage to get before the 20 wickets fall.

Warne and McGrath get shown too much respect. Granted both are world class bowlers but Kev can hit each for 4 and 6, why can't the others.

0-1 Australia.

Better starts the net practice now

Not watched it for a while but can see some peoples strenghts and weaknesses in team but why is Vaughan captain as both times he got less than 5 or 10 batting iirc and doesn't bowl usually either. what does he bring to the table. tbh Pieterson bar the drops was the best player for us imho

Who got man of the match? No doubt an Aussie but Pietersen wouldve been a good shout. Double half centuries on his test debut

Vaughan is strange. He's got a good Test record but he cannot bat. He's not had good form with the bat for ages now. Yet he still plays himself at 3

Not too long ago Vaughan was the number one ranked batsman in the world and his record over the last 12months proves he is a good captain. He isn't batting as well as he was before he was made captain but is still capable of destroying a bowling attack, just ask Brett Lee about last years ICC semi.

The error was leaving Graham Thorpe out. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but Bell should have been dropped to accomodate Pietersen, not Thorpe. On both occasions we lost a few quick wickets and Thorpes experience would have been vital in rebuilding the innings, Bell just couldn't do that and ended up losing his wicket, exposing the middle order to the new ball while McGrath is in a groove.

Yeah I couldnt understand the whole 'thorpe or pietersen' thing. Why not both like you say. Thrope is the kind of guy you need at the crease when we're struggling.

You don't average 45 over the course of 100 tests without being able to bat. The fact New South Wales have signed him as a player/coach for next winter shows how highly the Aussies rate him, it must have been a massive boost for them seeing he was left out. Hi age is irrelevant, have Australia left Martyn or Hayden out?
I don't doubt Bell has a good future ahead and has done little wrong but as yet he has only batted in sides that are doing well, same goes for Strauss, a steady head and experience are vitalwhen the pressure is on.
