Car : Corsa 1.2 16v SXi
Ok last week i drove to and from work 5 days, total of 155 miles, and never went over 2.5k rpm when changing gear,
Everyday i spend
20 mins driving at 30mph (12 miles) Not many stop starts, 2 or 3 traffic lights
30 mins driving at 50mph (20 miles) no stopping and always in 5th gear.
Now due to the conditions that i drive i should be getting more than the quoted (combined) mpg by vauxhall which is 45 due to the fact that i do more extra urban driving compared to urban.
I should be expecting at least 45mpg but should be more like 50+
Petrol cost : 88p a litre
Petrol filled £15
Distance covered 155 miles
£15 / 0.88 = 17.04 litres
17.04 litres / 3.78 = 4.5 gallons used
155 miles / 4.5 gallons = 34 MPG
WHAT! Am i calculating this correct??
My car has always had this consumption, i thought it was just because it was runnning it in. Now its nearly 3 years old and 25k miles under its belt.
Do you lot with 1.2 16 engines get the same consumption. If yes vauxhall are serriously faulse advertising their figures as the only reason i got the 1.2 16v engine was that it was nippy for what it was and had what i thought good economy!
34mpg thats fucking 2 litre terriory and i aint even driving it like a tit

1.2 16v Breeze - 20 quid gets me roughly 170-200 miles, so thats around the 27/28 mpg...but it gets abused. Though tbh, even when i take it carefully for weeks upon weeks, i rarely get more than 200 miles out of 20 quids worth of fuel....so i think your lucky

10quids worth of juice used to get me 80 miles max!

I can only get 200-240 miles out of a full tank of Optimax, which is about £33-£37 depending on how empty the tank is.
Mostly urban driving, some occasional motorway driving every other weekend.
Probably not too bad considering my Astra is an auto and I've got one or two unresolved engine problems...

34mpg for a 1.2 isn't that good. I've got a 1.8 and get 30mpg at the best of times.

exacly
I am not complaining the fact that i can get 150 miles from £15, i am complaining as i should be getting 200-250 miles to £15 (according to vauxhall figures)
If i give it a bit of stick (which i can easily do need to rev the fucking stupid 1.2 engine to get anywhere) My figures will drop to 25-30mpg i can guarantee!

Try changing your driving style. I look ahead and if i think i will need to stop, i slow down long before i get there, by that time the red light or traffic has started moving - means you dont need to stop and start all the time.
