Has anyone made money by modding a car.. ?

My mate bought his Vectra V6 SRI for £3,500 (Cat D so got it cheap) 2 years ago.. put about 20K on the clock.. had a ST interior magnex, GSI wheels, bumper, fitted Zenons, flywheel, 4bar, 40mm drop and thats pretty much it and sold it recently for £5,800 so fair enough he spent a bit on it but didn't loose any money on it and owned it for 2 years. not bad going i thought!

your more likely to make money buying a modified car and stripping it to sell the parts seperately.

Yeah, he did tell them it was a cat D.. They just fell in love with the car and bought it... usually you can make money making replica models though? It makes them more sellable sometimes as younger people can afford the insrance but still looks sporty like a 1.6 Mk4 Astra would be worth a lot more with a GSI kit and interior i woould have thought...

Not if the insurance company want to insure it as a GSi because its just a likely to be stolen as it looks right.

depends what you say to the insurance company... My mate with the veccy said it was a "Irmscher, dealer fitted kit" and didn't have to pay any more...
