well this is it, i started off a proffesional career as a chef and ended up at one of the best hotels in the uk,bad sadly had to leave the profession due to a health problem,so then reverted back to grass roots and have been doing some mechanic work @ my dads garage since then...
now apart from food and cars there was only one other thing i ever did well in , photography, which i got an A* gcse and nvq l3!
so to combine that with my interests in aircraft and the armed forces ive decided to take the plunge and join the R.A.F as a photographer.

i was diagnosed with chromes disease,which is a bowel problem,defeats the object of being a chef when your limited to what food you can eat,whereas in the raf they cater for all dietry needs. as ian sais you do have the option to pay out or at the half way point you have a review whereas if its still right for you....
i carnt see why 9 years would be a problem considering im an aviation ,and photography enthusiast anyway so what could be better than being paid to do a job based on 2 personal interests! bearing in mind il be 27 in 9 yrs time , would have seen the world ect, then with the training il recieve through the raf i could come out as a civilian and prob take on a job in any field of the photography industry...
i went to raf fairford at the weekend, so pics will be up when i get them back , i shot 15 roles,bit gutted the new cam hadnt arrived so had to use the slr and pay through the roof for developing lol
really excited about it, also just found out that after my basic training ect then il go onto raf cosford to recieve my trade training then go on my first operational tour with a choice of cyprus,usa,portugal and france.
carnt wait.....

Cool does sound very interesting, do you have to do combat training etc? (I.e. would you be expected to fight or just take pictures if the raf got involved in a big war?)

u still have to do the compulsary 9 weeks basic training, including weopons training ,survival skills,fitness ect, and in a time of war, my role would be even more important as id be involved in taking arial reconaissance photos,damage photos,and taking public relation pics on the front line.
there are so many different tasks involved in the role!

very good, considering , all your medical costs are paid for, you have a very good pension,all meals and accomdation is provided!
the only time you start to pay for accomadation is if your married and move into a raf home!

wide salary band! why is it so wide? at the lower end i.e. 15k approx do they allow for more basic training etc?

took hundreds of shots, went into the show saturday, sat at the end of the runway sunday, and at the opposite end of the runway on monday for the fligh out!
was absaloutly top, some of the best pics ive taken to date hopefully!
should get em back thurs/fri so will be all up for the weekend
