no i wouldnt think so , or not legally, however if i was in doubt i would switch it off and use another pay as you go mobile.

apparently not registering with a PAYG mobile doesnt make it that much harder to track the owner down either.

The networks can tell you what area a handset has been used in, what sim cards have been used in it and the times of calls made even if the handset is switched off. But they will not give this info out.

Its a complicated situation but armed police have quizzed my boss as to why i have 2 phones, it's all to do with something going on at work. Apparently a couple of people are under investigation.

All I can say is this....

A mate of mine got involved in some drugs shoot...i dont know all the details.

He bought a PAYG in amsterdam to use during the deals....got busted, and by the time it went to court the law had traced him all around europe via the fone...all calls logged, all recipients logged.

sank him in the end...he's doing 10-15 IIRC
