if its after a certain duration and has only been lately then I'd suspect its a heat problem, maybe the cpu fan isnt moving like it should?

My PC runs at about 50-60 degrees, it is fine. 70 degrees up and it starts to slow.
Most intel chips now underclock them selves to cool down.
Also my media player doesnt lock up but, it is really slow after 5 mins. Takes 20 seconds to change track some times. Tried reinstalling did foock all.

i dont think its heat myself.
most CPU/Mobos will have a shut off point where by the PC will just shut off if the CPU is overheating.
Is the fan/heat sink clean+clear on top of the CPU? if so, i doubt its over heating.
Have you ran windows update recently? i would definatly give that a nice big update if it needs it.
Also, do you have any spyware protector on your PC?
its definatly worth having a look at.

shouldnt be the CPU at those temps. athlons maximum die temperature before overheating is something like 75C.
To eliminate the heat problem try doing something different. If after 15mins of playing games it doesnt restart/turn off you know it's not that.
Could be a dodgy installation of Media Player
