go for a centrino. they got longer battery life and wi-fi built in to them so are ideal for laptops (hence why they were designed)
and although the clock speeds are relatively slow, the majority of centrino chipsets have 2MB of L2 cache which makes them run effectively at a greater speed than the speed of the clock
ie a 1.5GHz will run at the same sort of speed as a 2.5GHz p4
i think thats how it works anyway i aint no pc boffin so aint 100% on it

centrino is NOT a processor
its just a collection of 'technology' which provides wifi support, good battery life, etc...
Pentium-M is the processor in it!
and the 1.5GHz Pentium-M is more on par with a 2.3GHz P4 than 2.5... but it runs a hell of alot cooler & also sucks less power...
If Intel made Desktop chips the same way as the Pentium-M is made, but with 64-bit support... that would pretty much Destroy AMD!

btw... the AMD Sempron is just a 'Cheap' badged AMD-XP Chip...
AMD XP-M is the Mobile variant & runs better than the Sempron

aye yes you did
AMD offer good performance for the £££
Intel (P4-M & Centrino Tech) offer good battery life for the £££, but AMD still pip that as far as performance goes...
Depends... do you do alot of work out & about, or mainly at home where you can plug it into the charger??

Centrino laptops (15") will last 2-3hours at best... equiv AMD ones last UPTO 2 hours...

It's for when I go to uni as a gift so I'll either be in my uni room using it or at home so there will be a power supply. I imagine only times I would use it's battery would be maybe in a lecture or something just for a bit of word processing, then maybe some gaming or stuff when it's pluged in. There's just so much choice though

This disc I got with it has got some class stuff on. Like a back up programme and computer duplicate checker etc.
Think I'll sort the pc out today as it's running abit slow and stuff recently.
Anyone know if you have to have your iTunes catalogue backed up for it to work or will it play anyway?
