keeps the heat in the exhaust and not distributing it through the engine bay, good if you have an engine that runs hot and in a small space like th TU lumps in the 106's and saxo's.

Could cause the manifold to crack though... so i've heard

its always better to buy mild steel performance manifolds, they may not look as good, but they do provide flexibility with the heat

if you dont use the car much, and use it on wet days... the lagging will keep the pipework damp, promoting rust
