anyone on here had any experience with the above motor vehicle?
I know they're not the fastest of cars but I may be purchasing one and wondered what people's thoughts were.
I can't find a Golf GTI round here for love nor money, they're either 100k+ or 5 doors, or some shitty green colour etc...

I knew I wouldn't escape some sort of French comment
I need constructive replies
What exactly is wrong with them/can go wrong? What are they like overall as an everyday run-about?

I do want something that's fairly fast and the 206 is faster than the golf.

Well there's your answer. Its fairly fast but the interior is wank - amazingly wank on early cars.
I dunno - cant be arsed to write anymore

whys the interior wank? the 206 GTi has got quite a nice cabin when you compare it to clio 172 etc.

you driven one SetH?
what are you thoughts? I liked the look of the interior to be honest. The GTI's come with half leather as well which I wouldn't mind

Not in my opinion - half leather is nice but I don't like the dash. Especially the stalk controls that you can break with 1 finger in early cars
Its just looking dated. Mind you same could be said for a lot of cars I guess

at least there's some silver in there I guess. Unlike the clio's mentioned before where it's just all dark plastic, really dull looking and as you say get's easily dated

My mate has one of these in black, looks really nice and goes well too. I liked the interior and dash.

the GTi180 is pretty quick, and handles very well, but still suffers from dodgy driving position. Not as fast as the Clio in a straight line or on the bends.

W reg in black. Has done 90K too but he hasn't had any problems with it. He had a 306 GTI6 before it and he actually prefers the 206 GTI. He has also had a 205 GTI and his missus has a 106GTI
I was considering one for a while, but have since gone Jap

Get a 106 GTi over a 206 GTi.

Patrick, not only is that dangerous, but would look rediculous. How would you hold the 2 together when moving? Plenty of glue like peckerdicks pram?

Get a 106 GTi instead of a 206 GTi.

I know he was joking Davina, but incase some half-witted people on here think I might of actually meant that I re-worded my statement.
A black 106GTi with full black leather would be nicer than any 206 GTi you could find though..

One of my friends sisters had one until she crashed it lol. He used to say it was alright to drive but didn't have much power higher up the revs. This may be complete shoot but worth looking at.

the GTi180 loves being driven hard, with plenty of revs.

I really like the 206gti's, i'd choose it over the 106, although i like both, but with the 206 there might be less chance its been ragged all over.....and Dave change that picture
