not posted for a while so thought i wud cos got summit to show off and i am happy with it!!! no more progress on the vx220!!! been messing with brother car this week!
was brothers birthday bout month ago i didint know wot to get him so due to a poorly fitted exhaust, going back to quick fit for 5th replacement tommorrow it has melthed a LARGE area round the tailpipe the whole left part that goes round the tailpipe had melted and bout 2 inch melted off the left side that u could c from the back of the car! was reall mess!!!!
he went on holiday for a week so had a week to do the car, so i made a moud with masking tape to get the shape then fibreglassed it then just skimmed it with little filler! finally got the right paint, there was 5 shades of the same colour and code!!! lol
used 1/4liter of basecoat paint on the rear bumper, sow ith 1/4litre left descided as suprise wud colour code everything else like they do on the new 206s now! dead chuffed with the result, wish i had taken pic of the melted bumper u really can tell wot i have done all the lines are perfect! also colur match is spot on, maybe one shade out but dam close!
gave car good polish and clean for him and he came home today, he is not mad into his cars but he was well chuffed when he seen wot i did he only expected the bumper to be done:-)

pics of it now having parts painted and bumper repaired and generaly tidy up! baring in mind the car has done 60k+ miles i think now and 6 years old and not been driven steadly thats for sure!
not even flatted the parts back yet this is the shine straight from the gun!!!

tailpipe surrounding area repaired
even repaired to look like it did before with the bumper tucking under round the tailpipe,
front pannel painted

sorry for the essay, i wanna make a spray booth now so i can get perfect results, only prob at the moment are physical contamination cos of where i am painting!

No question, you are a very talented person. If you ever want to earn some cash in your hand, i need my audi repairing and wouldnt think twice about giving the car to you to do. Thats a serious offer.

how bad is it??? i love doing smally jobs cos u dont get bored and get real sense of accevement when it all comes out good!

stu it would be easier IMO to get both 1/4 and the roof painted in one go

tbh, the whole car could do with a full respray, but i cant afford it, just that damage is pissing me off Audi bodyshop wanted 600 quid to do it.

true, but if i do that, i might as well do the rear bumper, if i do that i might as well get the chipped lacquer done on other panel, if i do that i might as well respray the whole damn car

impressive work, ive got similar damage to my megane as that Audi, same place and circumstances aswell. Also same problem with rear bumper. You should have a sideline cash in hand type business If you need a car for more practise....................

mate dont put yerself out, you have that vx220 to do aswell  Im looking forward to seeing that done too  Now you can see from myself and Andy's comments, you should do it as a sideline and man you would be rich. Its such a shame and extremely selfish that you keep that talent to yourself

Do you do this for a living? What a nice looking job.
Could you fix the paint on my saxo after to dodgy bodyshop fucked it up  Not taking it back there again Or, if i get the C3, can you fit me a new front bumper and colour code it too
I can't understand why manufacturers don't colour code new models when they first come out. Pisses me off

Audi's are aluminium, so you can't just skim over the pannels with filler... My Dad had a similar incident with his A8, though ther person stopped and gave the details. The repair bill was huge and it took them 2 weeks to do it. Not sure how they repaired it, though I guess it involved welding in new pieces of metal...

colour coding is an easy job! well i was thinking with your audi if u wanted me to just rapir it and just do a rought paint job on the affected area i could do that, wud pob still be noticable to u but wud look tidyer, then when u have money get a respray! that was wot i was thinking, i live miles away thats the one prob, wud need the car for few days also cos i have to do it inbetween workiing as a chef!!!! lol
painted brother rear bumper at 2 in morning - lol

surely ed if u could skim over it with filler, sure there are some audis out there that have been repaired in that way!!!!
wud only need minimal amount of filler on that! y do u treat alliminum different than steel when repairing?? surely u just rub the surface down to get a good key for the filler and so its same surface! maybe different primer required!!!

its for practicality, they are black plastic so they dont mark as bad

ed, thats news to me, audi simply said its a repairable panel, couple of days and full written quote just shy of 600 quid
