I have a number of credit cards, my debts are getting a bit silly of late, so i needed to get another 0% balnace transfer card, yet i applied for another card recently and got declined.

I cant see a reason i have been as i always paybills on time and by direct debit. I have a topshop account they didnt send me a statement last month and i forgot so i subsequently missed a payment, think this could have affected it?


Never had a problem before im full time employed, pay massicve amounts off my cards each month and spend some too, thought that gave u good credit!!


If i have been refused one, i take it my chances of gettin another are slim??

Any help appreciated as i think it may be laon time

which one did you aply for? some cards have higher scoring than others. i got refused from barclays but accpeted from HSBC

You can "overload" on credit

Eg if you tried to get a phone, mortgage & store card all in the space of one month you would probably get declined for one, maybe even two of these things

Who did you apply for one with?

yeah, just sort it out. Multiple credit cards are a great way to fuck yourself financially. If you can't afford something now, wait, save, then buy it.

Speak to me about this

I had to get a loan to clear 3 cards and paid the loan off over 2 years, it meant selling everything and not doing anything but the satisfaction at the end of it is

Missing one payment on a storecard will not give you a bad credit history

Let me explain how experian work, if you constantly get your payments in on time you will be getting 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 on your payments as they monitor it, if you missed a payment you will just get 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 1 1, and as long as you paid the next month like my expample the two goes back down to a 1 again.

If you miss another payment your history will look like this on that particular card 1 1 1 1 1 2 3 4 5 then you get a big red mark and then default notices are issued to your address

Do a free trial on Experian, costs £4.95 to get a quick look at your history but its very intresting and you learn a lot.

Some lenders may decline purely on the basis that you have tried to apply for credit with a lot of other places in a small period of time.

I need to get a big loan to pay off all my credit cards quicker etc. but not even my bank will give me a loan - probably something to do with the fact that I just moved relatively recently as well, and I don't think I'm on the electoral roll yet?

Hmmmm.

I think a loan is a good idea, my girlfirend has done the same olly, i owe about £5k on credit cards. a bit less maybe.

A 5k loan should sort it really, if i get accepted

halifax phoned me this morning they are offering 0% interest over 12 months i declined.try them

I may try halifax as a last resort. But i fear if i got declined then itl go against me getting a card with them!


£5k is alot IMO, but £1.1k of that is insurance, i paid it in installments and it cost me loads, never again.

Being in debt is part of modern life, im not fussed about it, i am just in too much debt at the moment, i work in a commision based job and since jan our commision rate has halved so im earning fuck all!!!!!

Well its part of modern life is you accept it into your life imho. Like I said before if theres something I want I'll save, I always look at the big picture, the long run etc when it comes to stuff like insurance.
