I'm currently doing a brickwork course at college but my mum pointed out an ad in the paper about fire fighting and am seriously considering applying. Is anyone currently a fire fighter and could give me abit more info about it all?

thanks

I'd love to do it. Couldn't face the car accidents tho. That's what puts me off.

I'm not in the fire service but I do work for the emergency services.

My only piece of advice is be sure about what you want, it becomes a way of life as opposed to a job.

If you enjoy what you do then life is easy and I love it. Salary might not be the best but the job satisfaction is

Good luck fella

a friend of mine is in training at the moment.
they accepted him midway through last year, but a place on a training course only just became available.
#morton-on-Marsh or something similar is where the training camp is. apparently they train foreign s.w.a.t teams there aswell.

he seems to be really enjoying it. says it's fucking hard work, but all fun/interesting.
3months training then 2 weeks to recover before yyou get posted.
£19k starting salary aint bad.,

tbh honest. I know the money isnt amazing but to do something 'different' so to speak every day and work all over the place interests me. Just seems to me to be a really interesting job overal.

So he was perfectly good but wasn't an ethnic minority and/or woman? Fucking harsh!

my brother does it part-time (retained) and he loves it.....some of the stories he tells me though proves you need a strong stomach to handle it....like the time he attended an RTA which was a head on smash. The old couple in one of the cars were....lets just say....in the footwell when he arrived
