Starting to train fairly regular and hard now so need something to keep me going during the training.

Any recommendations for sports drinks? The 'mix with water' powder types? I drink at least a litre during training so big tubs would be good

steer clear of red bull especially at high temperatures. My friend did a study on it for his final year at Uni and he said it had a massive adverse effect on stamina.

do not drink protein shakes during training!

eat before, and drink water, with some electolytes if you are training over an hour or so.

dont eat anyting with a high GI index for an hour or so.

intaking a lot of sugars before exrcise can have an adverse affect on the insuling levels of the body, and actually reduce the ammount of circulating sugars

lucosade is a water based drink with implemented electrolytes, and is easy enough to pick up, but only drink still.

if you would prefer the powder based drinks then go for HIGH 5, as it made specificly for lengthy exercise.

you can take pro plus(caffene in a capsule) its better for you than coffee etc.. have a big bowl of oats and a banana before as these are steady release energy and oats are full of carbs

complex carbohydrates take hours to break down. nd even if he injested them at the perfect time, it would mean that he would have an influx of circulation sugars whilst exercising. meaning that these will be the predominantly utilised fuel.

training is a period in which you should aim to utilise the same amounts of crbohydrate and fat as in a competition, or possibly a higher % of fat to aid in body composition.

Simple CHo hould be injested, not bowls of pasta or rice

ive only been studying it for 5 years it ok

Greg_M speaks the truth and has summed it up tbh.

Also what vibs saying about getting your energy from eating and then taking a reyhdration drink is a good idea, this is how i have been training for years.

On the occasions when i need a pickup (not very often) i`ll go for a stimulant drink such as 'red kick' which contains gaurana, taurine and caffeine, its not loaded with carbs.
