what type of car.....

Quick..... lux..... 4x4

I'd prob opt for a cerbera,

I cant understand folk that pay 20k or so for a high range mondeo\vectra etc.... bonkers.... just buy a 2yr old one for 1/3rd of the price

R34 GTR if you add a few more (4 or 5k) to the sum....

EVO...... New Impreza....

list is endless without some focus!

For 20k you can get a seriously excellent car nowdays.

I would go down the Evo route.

if the car was staying standard : mint e36 m3 evo or an e46 m3 if you look hard enough.
e39 m5, 500bhp v8
or if i was going down the tuning route:
supra TT rz and just get a few things done like both cats removed, new filters, exhaust, remap.

s14 200 sx and get it running about 400 bhp

wouldnt call an e39 m5 a cool new car, its a few years old now but it retailed at 60k, and you can pay £15-20k and get something that chases ferraris. amg merc would be nice aswell, and older jags can be had for decent money aswell

Are we talking brand new or used?

If brand new... Golf GTI, Astra VXR, Elise?

If used... Evo, Skyline etc

you want something that will hold its value relative to other cars on the market
Alot of cars listed there will lose alot of money apart from the older Jap cars

Golf GTI's, VXR astra will lose alot of money as they will just flood the market with them

Personally I would go for a Merc coupe as they hold their value more than the saloons

I'm after a C Class Coupe

your own money? eh?

you mean finance?

I dont see the harm of finance if you can actually afford it, and dont have the money at hand....

but if you take out finance, struggle to meet the payments etc its very pointless
