Nice, how romantic.
I thought that one of the key features in creating a replica is to have it actually look, in however small a degree, like the car you're replicating?
Did I miss the two-tone, underpowered, bad boy bonnet, multi-scooped, Z3-vented, lowered to hell version of the Lotus Carlton?
My ass crack is a better replica of a Lotus Carlton.

That is in fact a perfect copy of the extremely rare (only one ever built) and highly secret Lotus Carlton 'Nobber Edition'.
The car was constructed at the Lotus factory on a Friday afternoon in early 1991 after a particulary long and refreshing lunch at the local hostelry.
The Lotus boys built and painted the car in less than two hours, and without light after a comprehensive power cut left the factory in darkness.
The brief was to build a prototype for a large and underpowered version of their formiddable flagship of the Vauxhall range, that would appeal to and could easily be purchased by common people with restricted intelect and taste.
Naturally the Lotus technicians exceeded all expectations, and finished the only front wheel drive 1800 cc version of the vehicle known to exist, in record time.
An achievment indeed when considering that, always wanting to challenge themselves, all the men involved with the project built the car either blindfolded or with one hand tied behind their back.
In fact, the leader of the project led the way by running the whole operation with only his feet and a series of grunts - he wore a gag, a blinfold, and bound both of his arms. He was later reported to say that he did this to prove it could be done.
Sadly, after considerable marketing investigations were carried out, Lotus discovered to their dismay, that this impressive new car was in fact completely unsellable, and so they were forced to abandon the project.
In order to prevent embarrasement to Lotus' reputation; after all employees of the company were sworn to secrecy on the matter, all documentation was destroyed and the single prototype of the 'Nobber Edition' was buried in a peat bog in the outer Hebrides.
Lotus must surely have believed the matter was consigned to their vault of dark secrets and that they were safe from ridicule from the motor industry and press, but now it would appear that images of the car must have been leaked out before the project was buried.
The result being the abhorant replica of the original prototype that has been painstakingly recreated in every detail, and is pictured above.
What effect will this have on Lotus?
Only time will tell
