they're very different types of car really. For a start ones insurance group 8 and the others 14! depends what your after

ive owned the astra and a mates got the gti, if both are to be kept standard(engine) then i would get the astra. and get the 2.2 its only group 11

oh and if your after performance and fun, the gti, if your after a pretty boring car but arent bothered about speed and just want comfort then the astra
