Yes i believe it would be kept secret. The religious implictions between finding another Earth with a civilisation alone would cause mass hysteria. There would be riots everywhere, the western world as we know it would fall apart. Ollie, get your bunker ready.

Would be amazing if they did find another hospitable rock somewhere.
Then loadsa americans moved there. Then osama binladen let all the oxygen out claiming it isnt holy to land on other fake planets
