hey, its my dads birthday in few days and my mum wants to get him sat nav as they are drvin to villa in spain.
Which is best?
Want to pay approx 400notes

a PDA, then a bluetooth or fixed wire GPS receiver, then the tomtom software, which you can if you decide download free or buy from tomtom.

All can be got as a package from http://www.totalgps.co.uk

or you can buy the bits indiviually, ie the pda from ebay etc.

Dont whatever you do buy the tomtom HP edition, its crap

tomtom does do voice prompts. Its up to you i prefer the PDA version to the tomtom go device though, more flexible etc

I agree with Skinz 100% and go for the tomtom. not only does it have voice prompts but you can choose the language and whether its a bloke or woamn etc.
AS my dad is the sort of boss of a fleet of lorry drivers they are looking at getting satnav so we got to test threee and the tom tom was the best one out of them never got us lost once or anything.

I've been looking aswell and found this PDA with a built in GPS thingy Here for £199.95

Not sure how good it is though

i'd go for a tom tom personally, followed by the navman, then the medion. I haven't been able to try the garmin out yet, cos some barsteward has stolen the display one !!

Do u rate the navman mase? I think its shite, way to hard to understand whats going on while driving. I take it your a whipspeed boy like me

i haven't used it much, but thought it was ok. Nah i'm mainly parts, but venture over that side occasionally to earn some money on the incentives !!!
