I think claire has mentioned this but there is no point even thinking about getting a car or estate to tow a car transportor/trailer with a car on the back, it will be no good and not all that safe.

Best to go for a van, 4x4, pick up etc etc

I have got a LWB Transit (new shape) 125BHP turbo diesel and it struggles pulling my car trailer with the car on the back.

I dread to think wha smaller cars would be like.

forgot to add a lot of places wont even hire a trailer to you unless you have a suitable vehicle. Also check your insurance and driving licence to see if its legal for yourself to drive a vehicle with a trailor as the weigth is quite substantial as is the lenght.

i still reckon an old skool shitroen. What about a Xantia TD or even better a Xantia Activa? Activa's are farking quick, good for 145mph, Turbocharged 1.8, with peak torque at around 1800rpm, and the suspension is literally designed for towing heavy loads!
