Do you need to have a telephone line connected to your digibox to get an event on Sky Box Office?

I want to get the Ricky Hatton fight but my digibox isn't connected to a phone line, it is supposed to be but isn't.

Do they access your digibox through the signal to activate the event or through the phone line?

You can ring up over the phone and order but they charge you an extra booking fee I believe for speaking to you on the phone

I thought it as part of your Sky contract to have the sky box connected to the phone line 24 hours a day.

Sky recently threatened us with breach of contract as they couldn't communicate with ours - turns out the box was faulty - after 10 replacement boxes!!

They use it not just for box office, but to upload your viewing habits for their marketing use.

Think you have to have it connected for a year or something under the terms of the discount contract, just leave mine plugged in and as long as it don't show up on the phone bill then I don't care

Been with Sky Digital for a few years now and never have had it connected. It was connected when installed but when the living room was redecorated it was unplugged, has remained unplugged since and we've never encountered any problems.

I connected the box anyway, ordered the fight ok then disconnected it again. Had to bodge the connection so I couldn't really leave it connected, incase you wondering why I connected it only to then disconnect it again.
