What do you think,

I live with the G/F and last year we bought a new car which we are still paying for. I work daft hours so we are really needing two modes of transport.

Due to insurance and running costs another car is out the question, so I wasthinking about a scooter.

£15 year road tax, £200 insurance. 10000000000000000 miles per gallon.

What do you think and does anybody have any good links?

just buy a normal bike(bicycle)mate far more economical than both you have mentioned and plus it keeps you fit

Only for two years then it gets revoked for a year plus CBT will cost £100.

Dont need one for a moped as I got my licence pre 1/02/2001

you need a CBT and it's worth it.

If you get a 100cc scooter they are good for about 60

I ride one to work every day clocking up around 25 miles and wouldn't change back to the train.

I had a tuned NSR 125 on CBT, 115 mph flying machine that was... i cried the day that got flogged off

i've got 2 Aprilla rs 125's both tuned and they will do 120, drive with CBT

Me too, however my license does have Vehicle code "p" which according to the DVLA is a moped despite my never having taken any form of motorcycle test.

You need a CBT now anyway even if it's a 50 (as far as i'm aware it doesn't make ANY difference when you got your license), i'd go for a decent rs125/similar or if you want ease of use get a gilera runner 125/similar.

CBT is £70 round my way and is gonna make you more proficient anyway.

fair enough, but i'd still do your CBT if you haven't ridden on the road before (and at the same time add a 125 to your options) as at the end of the day your much more vulnerable on a scooter.

If I get this job with Vauxhall I will be looking at getting another Scooter.

I had a Aprilia SR50 which was de-restricted and with a Arrow exhaust would sit at 50mph all day long, with your head down it would do around 53mph.

Anyway, the new Aprilia SR 50's are Di-Tech fuel injection and are faster and more economical, reports of SR50's keeping up with the race replica RS50 which can do 60+mph

You need to get them hooked up to a Gameboy Advance (I'm not joking) and install the Aprilia software to its ECU to de-restrict it which is quite a ball ache finding a dealer with the software.

I'll get some pics.

I have a NRG MC3 A/C de-restriced, sports exhaust and 70cc bigbore and it does around 65-70mph on flat

Personally I would prefer the carb model in white as its easier to tune with the big bore kits etc
