Following on from this post the other day: http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=218807&page=2

I was talking to my mate who owns one and we got into a debate last night about how quick it actually is compared to a XE or LET in either a Corsa or Astra.

Basically he said he thinks he could get into the 13's up the 1/4 mile and could beat both a XE and LET, both of them being standard up the strip. His GT is completely standard as well.

Is this true?

standard ones will be similar to an XE id had thought. my mate had a tuned one tho and for little money could keep up with EVO's , etc.

It wont beat an XE'd corsa someone I went to Uni with had one and he wasnt too happy when I wasted him each time. It wernt even close tbh.

Also had a go at one near a local import garrage and yet again it got wasted.

And as for 13 sec 1/4 what a mofo
Granted they are nippy.

Wont do 13's sorry not a hope.
Quick cars granted but still a 1.3 turbo.

A LET Corsa offers "real" supercar performance.

we also put one up against a mivec colt.... very very even on 3 runs... the gt took 2 of them the colt took one....

i dunno how quick a 2.0 corsa is.... but you lot say its simular to CTR...

the lad in the GT that was racing that mivec said a ctr wasted him.... as he was changing into second the civic was still in first and just pulled way ahead...

so as i said above the XE'd corsa should take it so...

Thats what I thought. We had a little race up to about 80ish when I use to have a XE and it was neck and neck until we got near 60 and then I started to pull away so I cant see him beating a XE Corsa up the strip, never mind a LET.

He was willing to bet on it though, you up for proving him wrong on the next RWYB day Fad?

Not sure to be honest. I'll find out and let ya know.

What about a standard XE Astra up the strip as its heavier than the Corsa?

My mates old lump was running 180Bhp + stripped out and he could sit on my ass to about 80 then i could leave him.

His new lump is very very tuned and i know he will smoke mine (when it worked :lol no probs he has done everything to it and expected power figures are in 300bhp mark (spent 5/6k on the new engine)

there was a GT at the Japfest and this was leaving all the top end jap cars round the track

So basically both a XE/LET Corsa and Astra will beat a GT up the strip?

I will have to take him up on his bet then at the next RWYB!

I thought it was a bit much for just a chip. Will have to wait and see what he gets as he's having it rolling roaded soon.
