Basically i want to insure the Corsa in my name fully comp with all mods declared, i'm 18 and have 0 No Claims but Pass Plus... when i've been hunting around most companies for my car with mods and my history want around 1.5k some are lower around 1.3 but admiral recently rang me... the chap said we can insure you on your car for £805 so i thought but then he said.... it means u need to sign up to SpeedSure at which point i could see some sort of con he explained how it worked and basically its a GPS unit in the car which tracks my speed and location and i cannot break speed limits by 10% or else they send out a letter and theres an adminstration charge of £15 (basically a fine) so then he said u can only do this 3 times and on the fourth we shall take your insurance cover at £805 off you and you can have the normal quote of £1150 (with them) so i thought... fair enough

the more i come to think of it though the more it seems so restrictive and i know i'm saving around 300 quid but what does everyone think?

also... theres a charge of £100 on top to have the GPS unit installed but i get £75 back at the end of the year. To be honest i'm on my gap year now and could do with cheap insurance and also 1 yr no claims... i won't be using the car alot as for 3 months i'll be in America but the rest of the time it will be Social or Going to work...

opinions please

fcuk that for a laugh, I would no way do that. Everyone breaks the speed limit all the time. How ofter do u stick to 30mph in a 30? everyone goes 35mph. I would prefer to pay an extra £300

You will end up paying loads out.

Your better off getting a really cheap car with a small engine for a year. Or try putting your mum or dad on as an additional driver with u as the main driver. This will drop the price a bit.

no, im sure they'll require you to do X amount of miles a week etc personally i would pay the 300 quid as you'll end up paying more in the long run! Although why dont you go for the 1150 quote, surely thats still cheaper than anyone else?

i don't want it in their name, i want the no claims and can't be arsed to cheap out now only to pay later....

i don't think i'm going to do it, just seems so restraining and vibrio the problem is everytime i go over the speed limit i get a 15 quid fine... then when i get 4 its back to standard insurance... dont send a spacky comment back like ure not meant to speed anyway cos the majority of people do even if its going into a 30 from a 60 say and u dont slow down exactly to 30 at the sign....
