I wanna put my reg on before PVS but I haven't got any more days off untill the day we go. Can someone else do this for me? IE my brother
All I need to do is have my current plate put onto etention & have the new one put onto my car.
Could my brother do this on my behalf?
Cheers

he had to take it off his old corsa, then transfer it onto his new astra, its taken weeks so far.
Your best bet is to call them and ask

Dont see why its taken so long.
Every one i know with a private plate walks in to the local DVLA place shows all the correct documents hands over tax disk and walks out.
i know some one and a few months ago he said he was in and out in 18 minuts

Well mine was done in an hour!!
Drove to dvla edinburgh showed them my documents & retention certificate then drove home and stuck the plates on, you get given a new tax disc at the office & send them your old one!!
New V5 takes a few weeks but doesnt matter unless your selling the car!

If you already have the paperwork for the plate, its as easy as going into the office and getting it transferred, which i did over the counter and was issued with another tax disk
However if the reg is already on another car then yes it will take longer.
Like ive said, call the DVLA and ask if u want to be sure
