right, my monitor keeps switching on and off every other minute - ie: its as if someone took out the VGA connector and plugged it back in again.

Now, it happens more when the system (processor) is running a bit warm, idle its about 30c, highs 35-36c, but the weird thing is when i had my last fan on (cpu temps were like 50/60 odd) it never used to do it.

I think its my crappy FX5200 getting a bit too warm, but what else could it be?

cheers guys

well thats what im thinking, but why should it start doing it now?? The fan was changed about a month ago and its only started doing it a few weeks back - and it never used to back last summer.....

im thinking about mounting a fan onto the heatsink and see how it goes...but is there anything else it could be?

Does sound like a card issue. Can you run it ok with the case off and say a fan blowing/hair dryer (on cold) obviously
Updates any drivers recently?, try unistalling them and reinstall the latest ones from Nvidia.

My parents graphic card went faulty and it did similar things. It turned out to be the built in fan on the graphics card wasn't turning so therefore overheated.

just taken the sides off now - see how it goes. Updated drivers yesterday, but it was doing it atleast a good week or two before that.

mark - my graphics card was bought out even before they had fans its just a heatsink.

Also the heatsink doesn't feel that hot to touch, its a lot cooler than my HDs (which are around the 30c mark according to the temp sensors, gfx card doesnt have one )....

yea, been wiggling the cable for ages ( ) and it doesnt do anything, plus its all cable-tied up to my desk. The connector is screwed in properly and the card itself doesn't move at all.

The system is less than a year old, so thats why im a bit fecked that the graphics card has lasted this long (thats if it is fecked) - but yea, its still doing it. About once every 3minutes or so.

turn your computer off, and make sure its slotted into the agp slot fully. if you put the heatsink on yourself, chances are you probably didnt use enough heat gel, which causes it to warm up to higher temps, gradually cutting the life of the card down.

Yea, ill reslot the gfx card in a bit - the fan i was talking about was the one for the processor but i just wondering if its my processor that gone tits up, hence why i put the bit about the fan.

Also, ive noticed im pulling a lot less fps in counter-strike - usually im getting a solid 100fps, but recently its been around the 70 mark

It sounds like the card is overheating, which is probably a sign that it's on it's way out.

Actually, if the processor is over-heating, it has a direct effect on what happens on the screen, such as FPS drops (as you mentioned) and sometimes even the computer resetting. What processor do you have?
