uni run a competition with south yorkshire business group and i am in the final to win a few thousand pound towards setting my business up. will mainly be a car audio shop with custom work. nothing big or different really but i know there is demand and lack of decent shops about. wil lalso be specialising in a few in-car PC products that are hard to get hold of in the UK or i have developed and patented myself (whoich needs paying for now)

i need to submit a full business plan by end of july, but have never done one before

i have done 2000 pages of development and launch for a uni project already, it just needs summerising in a report

just need any help to point me in the right direction

Ummm, i've recently done a business plan for uni, i used a few sources, including Shell Live Wire - which has some tips/forums etc on and BPlans .Others included Business Link & bank websites...

I used a mixture & included as much material as i could find from all the sources really, & tried to make personal touches where possible.

I'll have a dig around for some more links for you. There is 1 i found very useful - which i'll look for now.

well basic structure of business plan:
intro - brief summary of what business will do, where it wil be done and why the entrepreneur has decided to set up this business. this section gives little detail but gives reader the plan of overall impression of the business idea
personal info - CV is handy here, particularly showin any previous experience in this line of business, any previous business start ups or general management. also info on any other key members of staff. could also show personal objectives to show how commited you are and what exactly you wish to gain from the enterprise
objectives - clear statement of objevtives firm is hoping to acheive. should be quantifiable targets. may wana use short-term, medium and long-term targets. objectives often relate to size of business, specifially hwo it may grow (could include increase sales turnover, etc)
production plan - this bit includes how the business will make/get goods/services which it will sell. also to be considered are staffing levels, knowledge and qualifications required of stocks of certain items. must show that you've fully thought through the exact details of how the business will run, especially day-to-day practical details.
financial info - heart of business plan, shud include projected balance sheet for first year, projected profit and loss account, and a cash flow forecast for first 6-12 months. also could include break-even analysis. a statement of financial requirements should also be included.
collateral - must show what security you have as a business, especially if borrowing money from banks etc. all business plans directed at borrowing capital require a statement of assets of the business and the assets of the individual concerned.

hope this helps a bit
