Contact adhesive gets you high




Goin quite well, just a simple plain black retrim with a nice felty material, rear cards done and rear seat is currently about 50% finished. Couple of things for anyone else thinkin about retrimming -

-definitely take off the fabric from the cards, it'll work much better
-dont piss about trying to cut corners by leaving cardboard retaining bits on the seat, you'll get a better result if you take em off, even if it means re-attaching them by hand
-Evo-stik Timebond is great for this job - doesnt go off as quickly as normal CA so you can adjust what you're working on...

You'll need pretty flexible vinyl I'd imagine unless you're goin to tailor the shape into it. Just stretchin the stuff I have was hard enough.

Vaux make them by attaching the material to a piece of plastic and then forming it, so you have to try and get your material to go the same way. It's a mare.

James - Got the material from a fabric shop in Nuneaton, glue was from B&Q - bout £8 for 500ml - enough to do both cards with some left over.

Mark - remove them obviously. The backrest material is held onto the seat by cardboard pieces which slot into the rear of the seat, just work these out with a screwdriver, and pull the material off the foam.

Unpick the stitching on the cardboard bits, but hold onto them to reattach later. Then unpick the stitches holding the vinyl on, and use the parts you have left as a template. I'm goin over my old ones to keep the shape and stitch pattern.

The bench I haven't got round to yet, but you turn it upside down, and pull on the little ring clip things you'll see on the bottom - these are all around the edge and hold the material on. Then it's just the same deal as the backrest regards copying the pattern.

Would it not be easier and cheaper to just purchase a Corsa Sport/SRi/SXi interior?

I need this contact adhesive to do my roof lining

I had a look at a few SXI plain black interiors. Most were tatty, incomplete or had split rear seats which would make my life even harder. It's good to get some experience in this kinda thing I reckon anyway.
