If it your first one be careful and don't rush it, make sure you don't short any of the boards out on the case, especially the motherboard. Everything else is fairly straight forward.

3.2GB Maxtor hard-drive
SB16 sound-card
15" Daewoo monitor
2nd PC (1999-ish):
512MB Duron 850MHz with 16MB nVidia RivaTNT graphics
40GB IBM/HGST hard-drive
AWE32 sound-card
17" AOC Monitor
3rd (current) PC (early 2004):

The Duron machine, listed as machine #2, is currently being set up with debian-sarge as a web-server/mail-server; the current PC is my gaming machine.

Yeah damn right save loads.
Plus, you can upgrade as you go along.
And choose what suits you, i.e. if you listen to music all the time get a top sound card.
Play games, loads of RAM and a Fat Graphics card.

As long as your not overclocking and you don't rag it to the edge every minute of the day you should be ok with standard sort of heat sink/fan arrangement. Although you might want to consider some non standard stuff, overclockers have a lot of the more popular stuff.
I put water cooling into my brothers PC earlier this year, its very impressive, but a bit too extreme for most people I think.

The PC's going to be used quite alot and i will need some impressive cooling as the gaming will demand alot from it. Water Cooling easy to install? Juts visited overclockers.com but all the jargon flies over my head!

would not touch IBM hard drives after I had to go faulty,
There was a huge design fault with them and 1000s went wrong

I got a cold air feed really!
Straight from the front through a filter that fits in the whole of the 5 1/2 drive by, straight into CPU cooler.

Takes 10C off roughly, a Duron 1800, unlocked Cache and Clocked to 2.2Ghz Cheap way to go.
