Ihave one, what year ya thinking of gettin, pre HDI or HDI, i have the pre HDI, you can turn up the boost and fueling at home takes about an hour and will put your power up to 110bhp

Normal problems with these things are leaking radiator (mine has one) they leak in the bottom passenger side, Air bag warning light stays on allot, this is due to connectors under seat, apart from that they are more defined than a corsa and mine handles so much better than my GSI

I was looking at around 99/00 reg. They're about 92bhp as standard right?

Should a standard one be faster than a 1.4 corsa sport? The torque must be quite high on these.

The reviews reckon they're as quick as the 1.6 petrol as standard. Not that a fat-arsed 306 1.6 would be quick

I own one, it handles well, goes well, and is cheap to run. If you're getting the 99/00 one then you can't just turn stuff up at home, but you can get it chipped. The 99/00 isn't the TD though, it's the HDi.

How reliable are the HDi ones when chipped? and what sort of MPG can you get from them when chipped?

MPG will go down to about the same as a petrol, my 1.9 TD has its boost turned up to about 15psi and fuel is up as much as i can bear (due to smoke) and it should in theory be around 110BHP and 160ishLB of tourqe, when on boost they pull really well but only for about 1000rpm the power on these come in big chunks. You carnt turn up the fueling on a HDI without chipping as these have injection mine is mechanical so i just turned a screw. Well reliable cars really and the late spec models look quite nice. Im gettin rid of mine very soon though bored of it

Depends how you drive. In theory it's around the same because you don't need to go as high up the rev range to get the power.
