After finally picking up my car from the garage who were fixing my engine (what started as a new headgasket turned into a new bottom-end and pretty much a rebuild), I decided to put a few motorway miles on it to help run it in...

So after it being so smooth on Saturday/Sunday I decided I'd drive round the M25 to my parents on Sunday -- about 50 miles away.

I got there fine and the car was really smooth, etc. Only when I leave to come home about 7pm, I got the oil pressure warning light as I started it up.

So to cut a long story short, my GreenFlag cover doesn't include recovery, so I ended up forking out £267 to recover the car to the garage, and I've got a garage bill which is £800 already and climbing (to sort this oil problem now)

It's still killed my chances of a holiday this year...

3cm: Yeah the one bloody thing that the guy hadn't replaced I wouldn't blame the XE engine, I'd blame a mixture of age, sitting round on a shelf for months, and workmanship of whoever did that helicoil...

Got another bottom-end and lots of new everything... (gaskets, bearings, tensioners, belts, water pump, etc, etc, etc, etc)

But.... Looks like the oil pump went. Turns out it's about the only thing the mechanic didn't replace "as a matter of course"...

Sod's Law eh...

In my experience (and i've replaced four bottom ends in the one car ) I have always replaced the Oil Pump, Seems a bit stupid not to if you blow a bottom end you never know what shite the Oil pump will pick up/have in it even after changing a bottom end

IMHO your better beingsafe than sorry a full new bottom end means a full new bottom end
